Retail Sales Consultant

We’re looking for a driven and energetic part-time or casual retail sales consultant to join our Melbourne team and must work weekends in the fast paced Melbourne showroom. The successful applicant will be at the front line of the business assisting clients, generating and closing sales and looking to build future relationships.

Reporting to the Showroom Manager, the Sales Consultant is responsible for a broad scope of activities relating to the showroom. Key responsibilities are inclusive of, but are not limited to:

General duties & responsibilities

  • Having a thorough understanding of the product specifications and finishes.
  • Responsibility for the overall maintenance and appearance of the showroom by:
    • ensuring that all products are assembled and displayed correctly, pricing set and free from defects.
    • ensuring that the showroom is clean and presentable at all times.
    • ensuring that products are always clean and free from dust and stains.
    • Adhering to all OH&S requirements.
    • Ensure that all administrative tasks are completed promptly and filed away, including Ensuring that the EFTPOS machine is maintained correctly


  • Generating leads and turning them into opportunities for sales.
  • Contacting potential customers via telephone, email and face-to-face.
  • Arranging meetings with prospects in order to demonstrate products.
  • Negotiating prices with potential customers and closing sales.
  • Identifying opportunities for new business within the market.
  • Ensuring all administration relating to sales is completed effectively.
  • Working closely with other departments and finding opportunities to cross sell.
  • In-depth understanding of the trading terms & conditions.

Client support and retention

  • Monitoring the progress of orders to ensure clients are always kept updated.
  • Organise the final delivery with the end client.
  • Building long term relationships with new and existing customers, and drive repeat purchases.
  • Escalation point for all issues relating to client dissatisfaction and warranty claims for the showroom.

Mandatory experience, requirements and qualifications

  • Must work weekends (favourable hours of 10am – 5pm on Saturday & 11am – 430pm on Sunday)
  • Resourcefulness with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills that encompass good persuasive and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Intermediate skills in the use of Office (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Strong organisational skills and capabilities to multi-task and effectively achieve team objectives
  • Ability to work in a small team environment.
  • High proficiency in client engagement and strong capabilities in maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Ability to represent Misura to network and liaise with industry stakeholders to create new leads.
  • Basic knowledge of an accounting CRM program.

Desired experience and qualifications

  • Previous experience with in the design industry or are currently studying design/architecture.
