Bring your passion for marketing and design to a high performing, passionate and creative team within Sydney’s design industry. Cult is a leading supplier of designer furniture brands including but not limited to Republic of Fritz Hansen, HAY, Carl Hansen & Son and Magis.

We are seeking to introduce a new and dynamic team member to our Sydney team. The position of Marketing & Communications Manager is one that requires you to be a leader, multi-tasker and lateral thinker, while demonstrating exceptional graphics experience and preferably previous experience in a similar role. You will be reporting to the Owner & Managing Director and overseeing management of one full time Marketing & Communication’s Coordinator providing leadership, direction and development. You will be based at our head office and showroom in Sydney, located at 21-23 Levey Street Chippendale.

Principle Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver marketing plans across four showrooms and one mono-brand store to successfully support organisational goals and growth within the A+D segment.
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets, providing regular reconciliation and reporting.
  • Identify and pursue a cutting edge marketing direction by continually assessing global trends and innovative strategies within the design industry.
  • Develop and manage and online strategy including web and social media channels.

Key Brand-Building & Corporate Identity Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all areas of the business that relates to image and client perception; sponsorships, advertising, digital media, public relations and events. Ensure the right message is delivered.
  • Monitor and control corporate identity and uniformity in brand message as set out in the ‘Brand Style Guide’, including presentations, tag lines, advertising, campaigns, sales promotions and logo usage. In liaison with external graphics agency.
  • Ensure that the identity of each brand partner is respected within the collection in liaison with four Showroom Managers.

Key PR & Advertising Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with key media partners across 5 major publishing houses and a total media database of more than 600 editors/stylists/journalists, etc.
  • Plan and deliver agreed communications strategies to support brand positioning.
  • Negotiate media contracts, including annual advertising plans and editorial content across print, digital and social channels.
  • Initiate and organise media opportunities in line with the marketing strategy.
  • Oversee production and distribution of media kits, press releases, pamphlets, brochures and monthly newsletters.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with like-minded and non-competing brands in luxury markets; e.g. Kvadrat, Artedomus, Waterford, Moet Hennessy, etc.

Key Campaign & Event Responsibilities:

  • As per marketing plans, develop and manage 10-12 marketing campaigns on a yearly basis that effectively contribute to sales target. This includes product launches, trade fairs, international designer visits, fundraisers, etc.
  • Understand client and stakeholder needs, experience and behaviours by effectively utilising data including, CRM, web/social analytics, surveys and use the insights to inform marketing initiatives and campaigns.
  • Manage relationships with external and internal suppliers to ensure key deliverables are met for funding campaigns and other programs.
  • Develop event brief, themes around each campaign in liaison with given brand partner.
  • Work with showroom managers and sales in each location in execution of events at a local level.
  • Effectively monitor campaign and program measures, analytics and insights to deliver value for money in marketing initiatives, drive change and continuous improvement.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Marketing Role including success in developing multi-faceted marketing and communications strategies (including print/digital/social media).
  • Perform budget determination, management and reporting tasks.
  • Quantitative and qualitative data analysis to interpret and use for relevant marketing.
  • Understanding of marketing trends and challenges within the design sector.
  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or commerce.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office skills (esp. Excel, Word, & Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including marketing peers, media, corporate partners and suppliers.
  • Advanced and proven problem solving skills, and ability to think laterally, creatively and strategically.
  • Ability to manage and inspire a small team to generate strong performance against diverse range of goals.
  • Very high level of attention to detail and aesthetic presentation.
  • Positive and accountable participant in team work with excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • A resourceful approach to budget determination and management.
  • Strong negotiation, objection handling and conflict resolution skills.

Salary will be negotiated subject to the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
