Want to be part of one of Sydney’s largest cultural festivals?

The City of Sydney has an exciting opportunity for an artist, designer, creative or creative agency to produce the hero artwork for the 2019 Sydney Chinese New Year (CNY) festival. The winning design will be seen throughout the Sydney CBD through an extensive outdoor campaign including street banners, digital billboards, citilights and station cross tracks with a total reach of approximately 5 million people.

The festival brings together the many different cultures that celebrate the Lunar New Year. In 2019 the festival will celebrate the Year of the Pig.

The successful artist/designer/agency will be required to develop a unique hero design in collaboration with the Sydney CNY Festival curator, design manager and project team. This may be photographic, illustrative or graphical (or any combination) and should:

  • represent the Year of the Pig in a culturally appropriate way that is accessible to people of all backgrounds
  • portrays the celebratory nature of Lunar New Year
  • represent the unique nature of Sydney’s celebrations and the contemporary nature of the Festival
  • allows flexibility for the inclusion of other festival logo/brand elements
  • inform the art direction of festival collateral

The City has allocated a budget of up to approximately $15,000 (exc GST) for the delivery of the CNY 2019 hero artwork.
