Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Professor in Architectural Design, Design or Urban Design

The University of Queensland’s School of Architecture is a regional leader in architectural teaching, engagement and research with a focus on the transdisciplinary, global future of architecture, urbanism and design. The School is part of UQ’s faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology (EAIT) and offers four coursework programs:

•Bachelor of Design

•Bachelor of Architectural Design

•Master of Architecture

•Master of Urban Development and Design

These programs draw on diverse expertise from across UQ to prepare graduates for dynamic careers in the built environment. About This Opportunity

The School of Architecture have entered an exciting phase of change that has resulted in a strong focus and vision for a multi-disciplinary School of architecture, design and urbanism.

Amazing opportunities are now available to fill multiple academic positions at different levels within various disciplines within Design and Urbanism.

To be successfully appointed to the various roles available in Design and Urbanism, candidates will be required, as per the criteria in the position descriptions supplied, to demonstrate the required levels of knowledge and experience in teaching, research, and service and engagement.

All positions will be located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking candidates with a completed PhD in design, architecture, urban design, engineering. planning or other related discipline with established profiles in teaching and research in architecture, design and/or urbanism, and an internationally developing profile coupled with an established record of publications in reputed refereed journals, and presenting at relevant internal and external events relevant to the role.

You should have demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of interdisciplinary design labs, foundational studies, communication and/or built environment courses that cover across the School’s four coursework programs.

Applicants should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, effectively teaching as required, conduct research and present findings, publish in high-quality outlets and prepare effective reports that document research findings for both internal and external audiences as well as supervise Honours and HDR students as required.

What We Can Offer

These positions are full-time, continuing appointments at Academic level B, C, D or E. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of:

•Academic Level B: AUD$99,542 – $118,206

•Academic Level C: AUD $121,939 – $140,603

•Academic Level D: AUD $146,824 – $161,756

•Academic Level E: AUD $189,130

All remuneration will include superannuation of up to 17%.
