Job Description
Special Lights is a well established business involving in importing exclusive European Lighting brands as well as operating a Design Services division which delivers professional Lighting Plans for mostly high end residential customers. An exciting opportunity is on offer to join Special Lights as a Lighting Designer for the Design Services team for a 6 month contract which may possibly extend even longer as we are a fast growing business.
The Position
The Lighting Designer position involves client liaison, delivering Lighting Plans and revisions and site problem resolution, with the support of a Project Co-ordinator. In particular you will:
– Conduct professional sales presentations to potential clients interested in our Lighting Plan service
– Take detailed briefs from clients to identify the right design and product outcome that will deliver on client needs, expectations and budget to ensure a positive experience
– Create Lighting Plans and revisions, documentation and specify appropriate lighting products
– Provide project quotes
– Interact with clients & site associates and professionally handle complex lighting problems that may arise
– Oversee all projects and direct Project Coordinator to ensure projects are delivered on time and deliver or exceed divisional revenue and margin targets
– Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, nurture new customers and develop new customer opportunities where possible
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
– Min 3 years’ experience as a Lighting Designer
– Experience with Lighting Design software
– Experience specifying architectural and decorative lighting for either residential or commercial projects
– A solid technical knowledge of lighting
– Time management & project management skills
– Ability to problem solve “on the go” including problems that may be of a technical nature, work well to changing timelines and priorities and be a good multitasker.
– Comfortably carry out sales presentation (selling our Lighting Plan service) as well as site meeting with multiple stakeholders
– Very strong attention to detail
– Computer literary & excellent interpersonal & written communication skills
