- Experience 2 Years
Job Description
Multiple projects · Small senior-led team · WFH flexibility + real project exposure
We’re looking for a proactive Design Assistant (approx. 2–3 years’ experience in interior design — ideally workplace/commercial) to support the design and delivery of multiple workplace projects across a variety of sectors. You’ll be working in a small, agile team, directly alongside a Project Director, Senior Designer, and Documenter — gaining hands-on experience across concept, design development, documentation and delivery.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to move beyond traditional support tasks and gain responsibility, confidence, and visibility on live projects.
What you’ll be doing
•Supporting design activities through Design Development and Documentation phases
•Ordering materials and finishes samples, tracking delivery and organising sample boards
•Ordering furniture samples and coordinating logistics with suppliers and clients
•Liaising with suppliers to gather information, pricing, lead times and technical data
•Scheduling approved materials, finishes, furniture and equipment (FFE schedules)
•AutoCAD documentation support: completing mark-ups from the Senior Designer/Project Director
•Updating presentations and design packs (InDesign)
•Assisting with project coordination tasks — meeting notes, tracking decisions, follow-ups
Who you’ll be working with
•Project Director – provides direction, leads client interface and clears roadblocks
•Senior Designer(s) – leads design intent; you action mark-ups and support design development
•Documenter – leads technical drawing production; you assist to ensure clarity and accuracy
You’ll learn directly from experienced designers — not be buried in a big team.
Why this role is appealing
•Exposure to multiple projects, not stuck on one task or one stage
•Real responsibility — your work will directly shape the final built environment
•Direct involvement in client and consultant meetings (both in-person and virtual)
•WFH flexibility, alongside in-person workshops and team/client meetings
•Fast learning curve due to boutique, senior-led team
•Opportunity to broaden your portfolio across workplace, legal, professional services, tech, and other sectors
What you bring
•2–3 years’ experience in interior design (workplace/commercial experience an advantage)
•Strong AutoCAD skills — confident with mark-ups and drawing adjustments
•Experience with the Adobe suite, particularly InDesign
•Organised, detail-focused, and proactive in following up actions and information
•Comfortable engaging with suppliers and managing sample procurement
•Enthusiastic, positive attitude — willing to jump in and contribute
Contract details
•Immediate start ideal (flexible for the right person)
•3–5 days/week depending on availability and workload
•Commence on a contract basis with potential to convert to permanent for the right candidate
